How I Want to Look

I absolutely love the images from the Isabel Marant lookbook (no surprise there really). I have this unwritten rule that the fewer actual pieces of clothing I wear, the better an outfit looks. By that I don't mean I go out in tiny shorts and tank tops, but that I just cannot make the layering look work for me. It always looks bulky, so I much prefer a few sleek pieces.

I really didn't like these IM heels before but now I'm mad for them. I would love a simple black heel to add an understated sophistication to an outfit. I feel that my wardrobe is starting to head in the right direction now. I managed to get a lovely peacoat from COS and well as some flat ankle boots. Every winter I struggle to find these essential items, yet this year I managed to buy them both in one go. I will post pictures soon. I love how a coat and a boots complete every outfit.

So next I need to find a few more jumpers, a basic black dress, a mini skirt and jeans - why is it impossible to find skinny jeans in a mid blue wash!? I think the IM booties might be my next purchase though. As with the other things I've bought recently they have been on my list for so long, I should just get them. I know I won't regret it. Watch this space!

  1. Agree with everything in your post. Where did you find the photos from the IM lookbook? I didn't like these IM heels before either, but now I'm craving them. So hot. I too never layer. I don't even make a cardigan + t-shirt work.. haha

  2. I'm still not sure about the IM heels, but they are kind of cool in black. Your COS coat and boots sound really nice, I wish that they had an online store..for the jeans, have you tried Nudie? I always have this problem with finding skinny jeans that don't stretch around the ankle, but Nudie keep their shape really well and don't fade too quickly..also Notify are really good.
    (sorry for the long comment)

  3. These lookbook photos actually make me want a few pieces, unlike the runway show. I really wish I had a COS here, or I could at least order online. I love their aesthetic. Those Marant heels grew on me too! I found a pair a little while ago at Zara, but without the bow: black, suede and with the mid-heel and same toe shape. For jeans, my personal favorites are Acne.

  5. Isn't it a great feeling when you know you're headed in the right direction? Buying what you need and desired instead of impulsive purchases are so much more satisfying!
Can't wait to see the COS peacoat. Is it the one with the zippers like the Burberry's ?

  6. Alex - Nudie sound good, I will have to check them out. No comment is ever too long ;)

Stephanie - Im glad there are some similar heels out there without the massive price tag. I don't have enough opportunities to wear heels like that, so to spend £400+ is a bit excessive.

Aissa - It sure is! I will post a pic of the coat soon. I know the one you mean - its basically the same but doesn't have the zip :)

  7. I HATED the runway collection but the clothing looks better in the lookbook photos. About the heels, I like them better without the bow. I'm looking for a pair like those Geraldine Saglio and Melanie Huynh wear all the time.

Can't wait to see your buys! I want the IM boots so badly but I'm short on money right now.:(
